Today was a much better day. Only one accident and it was because I was distracted. Also, the bubbles seem to be working real well in cutting the time on the potty. Either that or I'm waiting too long and he just can't hold it much longer when I sit him.
He pooped in his diaper before I took it off this morning. That was good because I was beginning to worry, the last time he had pooped was on monday and he usually doesn't go more than a day without pooping. I'm expecting this to be the trend for a while until he gets comfortable going on the potty.
I continued with my note taking and every day I find it more useful. I now know that he pees 4-5 times a day and he goes an average of three hours between each. Today I also added information about what he drinks and amounts based on which cup he uses. I hope this will give me an idea of how different fluids affect his bladder and a more accurate way to predict his needs.

I think I jinxed it with my optimism yesterday. While he still only had one accident, the day was not as smooth. The first time he peed was typical. The second time was an accident and due to him 'hiding.' It was a bad accident. Not only did he pee but he also pooped and was inside an ottoman when he did it so I had a wet ottoman and fully wet child to deal with. The only option was a bath. This wouldn't have been such a big deal if the temperature wasn't in the upper 80s when this happened. So not only did I have to clean an ottoman and carpet in that heat but also bathe my child in that heat and deal with soiled underwear. In that heat. It was really the heat that made it all so bad.
Then I realised that my mother is coming tomorrow morning and I really didn't have enough for breakfast for two. So I had to brave it to the market again. Unfortunately, it was a little too soon since he had had a drink so when I sat him down on the potty he did not pee. I braved it with a disposable training pant over his regular underwear (he refused to put on the disposable, I had to hide it in his shorts) and braved the market. When I took it off after we got home he was dry, so he made it. About three hours and a couple of drinks later I sat him down on the potty. Nothing. And he was not happy about sitting and I was very hot and frustrated. This heat really isn't helping the potty training. After a while I let him get up and he was upset because he didn't get a treat. He did eventually get put back on the potty and he did pee but knowing he was close to needing to go made it a stressful time until he did.
